Naše každoroční stálice v nabídce - Asman Arianto zaujme na poměry Indonésie neobvykle čistým a elegantním chuťovým profilem. V šálku se objevují tóny žlutého ovoce, doplněné o sladkost třtinového cukru. Suché aroma je květinové a lehce kořenité. Acidita je citrická, střední intenzity, zakulacená a příjemně ovocná. Celkově šálek působí harmonicky, s čajovou lehkostí a dlouhou sladkou dochutí.

This coffee comes from a small mill in the area Pegasing near the city of Takengon, in the famous coffee region Aceh in Sumatra The mill is operated by Asman Arianto, winner of the Cup of Excellence competition. The Asman Gayo mill processes coffee from several small-scale farmers in villages Pantan Musara.

A few years ago, these producers were forced to abandon their homes and land due to a natural disaster. But they have gradually rebuilt their farms and livelihoods – this time with a stronger focus on quality coffee.

Unlike most Sumatran processing centers, this mill specializes not only in traditional methods, but also in washed coffee, as well as natural processing. Due to the local humid climate, washed processing is relatively rare in Sumatra.

Microlot

Microlots from Sumatra are most often traceable to the mill level, with some exceptions down to individual farmers. Most local farms are very small, so coffee is usually blended from multiple small growers. However, microlots offer a higher level of traceability, higher quality, and farmers get better prices for them.

Processing – Washed

The cherries are delivered to a central mill, where they are dehulled and fermented in open tanks for up to 36 hours. They are then washed and dried – either on raised beds, in solar dryers or on tarpaulins.

Aceh Region

Aceh, located in the north of Sumatra, is an exceptional area for coffee growing. The average farm is approximately one hectare, 95% of producers are small farmersand approximately 80% of growers are womenThe region is geographically very diverse – from the coast to the marshy lowlands to the Barisan Mountains, where coffee is grown on volcanic soil in the middle of the rainforest. A significant natural feature of the area is Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in the world.
