The pronounced sweetness of stone fruit is complemented by a pleasant citric acidity. The aftertaste is really long-lasting and reminds us of Toffo caramels - do you remember them too?

Rodolfo is a third-generation coffee producer and is extremely proud of his daughter Ariela, who is the fourth generation to join the family business!Finca Carrizalwas founded in 1890 and is located between two majestic volcanoes – Poás and Barva. The area is beautiful, the natural boundaries of the farm are formed by two crystal clear river flows and 15% of the area is covered by natural forest. Rodolfo and Ariela emphasize respect for the environment and strive to minimize their ecological footprint – from cultivation to harvest.

The farm is located at an altitude of around 1500 m above sea level, which are ideal conditions for growing high-quality coffee - with bright summer days and cool nights. All coffee cherries are hand-picked at full ripeness, then carefully selected once again and processed on site. What interests us most about Carrizal coffees are the strong, juicy notes, beautifully matched with the flavor profiles created during processing.

The process begins with the selective harvesting of ripe cherries, which are then de-skinned, leaving most of the sweet pulp. The beans are then dried on terraces and African drying beds. When the pulp darkens to almost black, this indicates a high sugar content and intense fermentation is underway. Once the beans reach the desired moisture content, the hard pulp is removed, the beans are sorted and left to rest to unify the flavor.

For each coffee , we choose a roasting profile according to the individual parameters of each lot , so as to bring out the unique flavor profile of each product, taking into account altitude, processing method, acidity and sweetness.

We pack our coffee in recyclable bags that do not contain aluminum and are produced with a zero carbon footprint.
