The Arce Family is dedicated to produce mainly natural dried coffees. They succeed in integrating the sweetness and complexity very well in their drying process, no fermenty notes. The family has 5 hectares of coffee and usually produces 20-30 bags a year, mainly Castillo, Catuaí and Typica. This is a single variety Castillo.
About coffee
The "comunidad" Taipiplaya is located in Caranavi, La Paz, at an altitude of 900-1950 meters above sea level. We have sourced all our beans from the last harvest from ASOCAFE. They differ in preparation and cultivation altitude.
The cooperative currently has 250 members from 34 small communities. Those grow their coffee on their own family farms. In order to control the quality of the coffee beans, even with so many members, there are four central "beneficios". The coffee is washed, checked, dried and sorted according to quality. The coffee producers are thus only responsible for the manual harvesting of the ripest coffee cherries and the cooperative takes care of the rest of the process for them.
The cooperative also offers regular compulsory training for the farmers, where they learn everything from the most productive cultivation to the correct harvesting and transport. Anything which could have an influence on the taste and aroma of the coffee beans is pointed out. The cooperative cultivates a total of 450 hectares.
