Northern part Peru, thanks to the steep slopes of the Andes and its proximity to the equator, benefits from a warm climate, fertile soil and dense vegetation. It is an area with great natural wealth and full of traditions that the local population has managed to preserve to this day. This part of the country stands out for its diversity of landscapes and natural ecosystems. Within this area, the Cajamarca region stands out, which includes a wide range of environments – from Andean ecosystems to wild forests at high altitudes.

One of the important provinces of the region is Cutervo, known for its picturesque through misty ridges which are characteristic abundant rainfall, the presence of peatlands and dry forests, which are protected within the Cutervo National Park. This protected area, with an area of ​​more than 82,000 hectares, represents balanced ecosystem, which is key to the sustainability of the region. The park provides water and food to more than 90,000 residents who live and work in seven micro-enterprises operating in the area.

The most important natural resource in this area is water. It is thanks to it that a large part of the population can cultivate coffee, which is one of the main export crops. In addition, it is commonly grown here sugarcane, rice, various fruit trees, while the inhabitants are engaged in cattle breeding for milk and meat production. All these activities are closely linked to the natural conditions of the region and form the basis of the local economy.

In Peru there was a word "Don" (for men) and "Doña" (for women) formerly used as a form of respect. Even today, in some parts of the country, especially in provincial areas, these titles are still used – usually towards older people or recognized experts in a particular field.
