El Placer Farms is a project led by Sebastián Ramírez, created with the aim of connecting coffee producers directly with roasters and offering transparent origin without unnecessary intermediaries. The project originally started with coffee from Sebastián's own farm and his father's farm, but it has gradually expanded to include production from other family farms and now brings together several exceptional producers.
Emphasis is placed on sustainable agriculture, innovative irrigation systems, and gentle processing methods that minimize environmental impact while highlighting the unique character of each coffee. El Placer Farms is continuously working to further reduce its ecological footprint and promote responsible cultivation.
Part of the project's philosophy is also caring for the local community. Through the Bienestar Animal foundation, it supports the rescue of abandoned animals and helps them find new homes. El Placer Farms thus represents a combination of exceptional coffee, a sustainable approach, and a positive impact on its surroundings.
The decaf is processed using the washed method, starting with the harvesting and sorting of coffee cherries, focusing on quality with 90% ripe cherries and 10% semi-ripe cherries. The cherries are pulped on the same day they are harvested to ensure maximum freshness. Subsequently, the coffee is fermented in traditional tanks for 24 to 36 hours and washed three times to remove any remaining impurities.
The drying phase takes place on tarpaulins for 15 days with slow and controlled drying.
The coffee is packed in Grain-Pro bags and allowed to stabilize for 15 days.
Finally, the coffee is dehulled and electronically sorted to ensure that only the best beans make it into your cup. It is sent to a facility in Manizales for the decaffeination (sugarcane) process.
